I'm Michael Horner, born and raised in Addison County, Vermont. After spending my adolescence practicing carpentry on job sites around Vermont, I worked for a high-end architectural millwork company, installing cabinetry and doors in the greater NYC area. In 2012, I started my own woodworking business, in order to provide the same care and quality of woodworking for clients that reside closer to home.
My ultimate focus is balancing aesthetic and function. I thrive in creating and building completely unique pieces that are to be treasured for generations. The process of design and creation is as satisfying as seeing a finished piece installed. I thoroughly enjoy the process of meeting with clients and collaborating on designs, whether it be hand sketches, scanning books, or browsing images on the web to search for our perfect composition.
Whether working one on one with a client, or with an architect, my goal is to accurately render our combined efforts through 2D and 3D drawings and or sketches. I am open to any and all ideas, given that the utmost satisfaction of the client is the most important aspect of any job.
Vermont is home to an extensive selection of native wood species, whether hard or soft wood. All of the solid wood used in projects is sourced locally and the majority of it is grown within the state. I have experience and confidence in falling trees for local sawyers to mill into lumber for clients to ultimately be used for our collaborative projects, giving a new meaning to local lumber.
